0306 - Time Of Apes

Movie Plot: WARNING!! This is a Sandy Frank Film!! A Planet-of-the-Apes ripoff with 2 kids being sent to an ape-ruled future. More... A woman takes her children to see their uncle, who is a scientist working on cryogenics experiments. They are using monkeys and other primates in their experiments. There is an earthquake, and the woman and her kids are trapped in cryogenic chambers and are somehow transported into a _Planet of the Apes_ type futures. They are captured, escape, return to the present and are eventually given an explanation of what happened to them that is incomprehensible. Also, this is really a re-edited Japanese TV series, so there's some odd continuity bits, especially near the end.

BTW: Sandy Frank was an US born producer of the imported Japanese films such as Time of the Apes, Fugitive ALien, and the classic Gamera films. All these films were riffed on Mystery Science Theater 3000. In fact, Sandy Frank was mocked so badly on the show that he refused to renew the rights so they could be televised again and today can only be seen by trading tapes among MSTie fans. Thankfully they remain in constant circulation and are easy to obtain.
